1.Calcium Bromide Liquid is used during workover and completion operations to provide a clear brine fluid at a density up to 14.2 lb/gal (1700 kg/M3). 
2.It provides inhibition, preventing the hydration and migration of swelling clays, and can be used for packer fluids or to adjust the density of other brine systems.

3.Calcium Bromide powder can be used to achieve rapid density increases with minimal volume increase. In solution, it has same function as liquid material. Dry powder material is available especially for areas without access to a liquid brine plant. 

4.CaBr2 can be mixed with CaCl2 to obtain densities up to 15.1 lb/gal (1809 kg/M3). When used with ZnBr2, densities to 19.2 lb/gal (2301kg/M3) can be achieved

Pharmaceutically, it is used as a central nervous system inhibitor. It has inhibitory and sedative effects, and is used to treat neurasthenia, epilepsy and other diseases.
